Centaur's key functions are explained below. For further technical assistance, please contact cpro@centaurstorage.com.
To install Centaur’s software on your Windows or Mac computer, click here. Administrator privilege is needed for installation, and the program size is approximately 5MB.
Open the Centaur program by double-clicking the red Centaur Exchange icon on your PC desktop, or by navigating to CentaurExchange in Applications using the Finder window on your Mac.
- Connecting to Centaur Account Disks
Open the Centaur program, paste Arrow links into the “Insert Centaur Arrow” box, and hit “Return” on your computer keyboard. Multiple Arrow links may be inserted simultaneously. Account disks will appear in the right-hand side of the Centaur window. Arrows may be used only one time (see below).
- Centaur Arrows Encoded for One-Time Use for Security
If you hit “Return” twice upon initially entering an Arrow, or attempt to re-use an Arrow later, Centaur issues a message indicating the Arrow has already been used. If you need additional Arrows, please contact your Centaur representative.
Double-click into desired account disk, and double-click into your folder. Drag files into your folder to upload. (Uploading to the top level of an account disk is not permitted, so please be sure to drag files into your folder.).
- Copying Multiple Recipients
To copy an uploaded spot to another recipient, open second Centaur window, and drag spot from your folder in the original station disk to your folder in the target disk. (WIN OS: Hold Control-key during drag).
- Refresh
Open the Centaur program and click into desired account disk and folder. If you do not see an expected file in the open folder window, right-click on the white background and select Refresh. (For Mac, there's also a Refresh button at the top of the Centaur window.)
- For Windows, select CentaurAdmin --> Set Preferences, and check box to Enable Autodownload. Create destination directory on your PC (Autodownload directory), and select it in the Preferences window. Click into account disk, View by Details, and check Autodownload box for desired folders. (For manual download, drag-n-drop.) For Mac, select Options --> Settings, and set destination directory. Command-click desired file and select Download Item. (Autodownload coming soon.)
- Adding/Viewing MetadataAfter clicking into an account disk and folder, single-click on desired file to select it, and click the Metadata button. Metadata may be entered for a file while its upload is in process.
- Downloading Metadata
For Windows, first set up automated download for video files (see above -- Downloading Files). Video files download to the Autodownload directory you specified. Next, select CentaurAdmin -->Set Preferences, check box to Enable Automation for Telestream FlipFactory, and set destination directory for FlipFactory. When metadata is present, Centaur will automatically move a video file from the Autodownload directory to the FlipFactory directory, and rename it ISCI.mpg. Centaur will also add a file named ISCI.mpg.xml to the FlipFactory directory, and it will contain the metadata. (Metadata download for Mac coming soon.)
- Email Notification
Centaur provides automated delivery notification to recipients, and upload confirmation to senders, per customer request.
