Centaur Delivery Opens HD Gateway for WDRB/WMYO TV
WDRB/WMYO TV deploys Centaur for HD/SD digital delivery of local and regional ad content, enabling first-ever HD broadcast of local Louisville spots
WDRB/WMYO TV has deployed Centaur Exchange HD/SD Native, enabling the first-ever broadcast of local Louisville ad spots in HD. Centaur accelerated HD rollout at the FOX/MNTV affiliates by delivering spots in server-ready native format for direct import to the station’s HD play-to-air server.
“We successfully imported and aired a Centaur-delivered HD Lexus of Louisville commercial from our Grass Valley K2 the truly first locally generated HD commercial to air in our area,” said Gary Schroder, Chief Engineer, WDRB/WMYO TV. “The only other HD spots to air in Louisville have been national ‘built-in’ spots from the networks, but now Centaur has opened the HD gateway.”
Centaur Exchange HD/SD Native is fast becoming the industry standard in local and regional markets, replacing tapes with a streamlined digital workflow in both HD and SD, without the need for expensive record and playback equipment. Centaur’s internet-based digital delivery solution eliminates the time and expense to process physical media, as well as associated shipping and courier fees.
“Centaur assists production houses for high-quality HD/SD encoding, then converts to the format we need at our stations,” said David Callan, Production Director, WDRB/WMYO. “Centaur-delivered spots arrive ready for broadcast and look great on air. It’s much simpler than dealing with tape or DVD media.”
“It was a pleasure working with Centaur for delivery into WDRB, “ said Kevin Bryan, Media Director, Bryanworks. “They made my end extremely easy, and I cannot imagine a digital workflow going more smoothly!”
Centaur’s service utilizes an exclusive transfer protocol to accelerate internet delivery, and provides automated download, notification, web-tracking, and proof-of-receipt. Centaur-delivered HD/SD files arrive at stations in server-ready native formats, requiring no stand-alone transcoding or tape play out. Centaur solutions also provide metadata for automated interface with digital traffic management systems.
Centaur will demonstrate all of its digital media delivery services at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention (NAB) in Las Vegas, April 20-23, 2009; Centaur Booth SU7022.
